Outremer 2

So, I've safely arrived in the Zionist Entity. I have to admit that I was kind of shocked by how calm and orderly Ben Gurion Airport was. Less chaos (and less obvious security) than Port Columbus International, let alone a nightmare like JFK. There weren't as many hot Israelis on my flight as I had hoped (and there were a fair number of Hasidim and some weird Southern Evangelicals), but I wasn't on El Al. But despite the relative lack of chaos, people are definitely very pushy here -- just a quick trip to a convenience store required elbowing two unrelated elderly persons in the face to keep them from barging in front of me in line. I'm not sure how well I'm going to deal with that given my current fragile emotional state.
Other first impressions:
I am somewhat reminded of a more prosperous but equally dilapidated version of Bulgaria, without the churches. Or maybe a less populated version of Turkey, without the mosques.
Also, I know that, before the fall of the Soviet Union, Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews held a small majority in Israel, but I feel like most people I've seen so far are very blonde and Russian-looking. I did see one Ethiopian girl in the store where I assaulted the senior citizens.
Anyway, now it's time for a nap. Check out the song of the summer, את מוכנה:

Outremer
So, I'm not sure how much "blogging" I will be able to do in the next two weeks. I'm going on an international mission.
It's black ops, so I can't really talk about it.
Seriously, though, I won't do that whole irritating "where in the world is Eric?" thing again. But I'm too superstitious to talk about it before I arrive.
It's nowhere surprising, though.
It’s not Japan.
